This document constitutes a historical review of the development process of the investigations related to Bolivian Rock Art, during the 20th century, starting from a series of brief reviews of the most enigmatic works. From this review, I propose a timeline separated by historical milestones, and research trends, which marked some moments during the century (or each decade within it).
