Abstract One of the most popular festivities in Mexico is definitely the Day of the Dead. This unique celebration replaces the hurt of mourning for a festive atmosphere, whose regional variants are enjoyed throughout the country to the astonishment of foreigners. Nourished by historical memory, the Day of the Dead is renewed every year since every year there are reasons to celebrate. Recently this topic succeeded on kids animation movies around the world especially among outsiders of this culture who see this tradition with curiosity. This is an unfrequented media for the subject of death. However, how is mourning processed in Mexico? What is the logic behind the fete, how does the family memory transform the grief into a multicolor festival? How important are family records in the celebration? Is there a scientific explanation for such blatant senselessness? This try to be explained here.
