Abstract This article aims to satisfy the needs of the measurement of environmental conditions that are necessary for the prevention of possible risks of deterioration of documents, proposing an alternative method that decreases costs and provides highly favorable results for their care, while at the same time providing to the professional in charge of the information unit a guide to the correct use of the tools of measurement of temperature, relative humidity, light and air flow. This method is based on a comparative and descriptive study of the use of tools such as: thermometer, hygrometer, luxometer and anemometer, both digital and non-conventional, that managed to achieve the proposed objective to perform a correct sampling with proposed tables. Additionally, a data logger was created, made by the physical race which proposes an adequate control of the environmental conditions.
