BEHOTEGUY CHAVEZ, Gabriela. The spirit of Melgarejo and his "camba calavera". Rev. Fuent. Cong. [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.55, pp. 30-35. ISSN 1997-4485.
ABSTRACT Spiritism is a religious practice stating that it is possible to communicate with the soul of a dead person through a medium. In 1914, the former secretary of General Mariano Melgarejo wrote a book, under the pseudonym Thajmara, where he recounts a conversation he held through a spiritist. Since then, General Melgarejo is invoked every week. Currently, he has an altar in the Luz, Amor y Esperanza Center and it is said that this place, added to the Government Palace and the town of Tarata, in Cochabamba, are the favorite places of Melgarejo's spirit. The contact between the spiritist cult and the beliefs related to death in the Andes allow the construction of meaning around the spirit of Melgarejo and his camba calavera in an extraordinary way.
