Abstract The work of the theater group Nuevos Horizontes (New Horizons) made possible the understanding that self-managed and independent cultural policies of the state and private enterprise are capable of appealing different sides of teh society. El Conjunto, through artistic and cultural work, toured several places in Bolivia from 1946 to 1961. However, it focused mainly on mining centers, purposely interacting with various social sectors. The intention of Nuevos Horizontes was to present theater plays and workshops focused on different artistic expressions throughout the country. This work was based on the principles of the anarchist ideology and a proposal based on what they called Educación por el Arte (Education for Art). The experience of Nuevos Horizontes showed that art is a way to transmit wisdom and knowledge starting from art itself.
