In this paper, the problem of political, ideology and ethical librarianship is analyzed, criticizing the vision of neutral librarian and libraries as apolitical institutions. Also, of professional ethics and social librarianship stands, promoted by the progressive movement. In addition, it is to find answers to the following questions: Libraries are political institutions?; Does the library, is an objective and neutral discipline?; if it is, should it be really?; Does the librarian can be an activist?
