    Abstract

    The story of the people not only born with writing as we know it today. We have seen in all civilizations, that the need to express ideas, worldviews or simply as an aid in everyday life, it was necessary to materialize through drawings depicting important events to a community or group of people. The study starts from the most ancient inhabitants of Chile and rock art to the National Library from its inception to the current celebration of its 200 years, then a brief historical overview of training librarians, responsible for protecting, highlight and disseminate this great treasure that is books.
