This paper studies the libraries development at present Argentine territory with an historical and librarianship perspective. First, it provides the theoretical framework of the search within the History of the Culture, and the Reading. Later, the different libraries that emerged in Argentina from the Colonial period to the present time are identified, and their characteristics and context are presented. Finally, the new bibliographical tendencies on the History of the Libraries are indicated.
