The article gives an overview of the characteristics of Bolivian journalism in the early years of development. She recounts the first Bolivian newspapers Chuquisaca and La Paz, generating nuclei this activity shows the initial periodicals in each department, to characterize and frame them in the context of the period analyzed ( 1825-1855 ). It emphasizes the role Bolivian journalism as an aid of governmental tasks, a characteristic that remained and gave Ufe to publications that marked an era in Bolivian journalism. First, with the Cóndor of Bolivia which had the effect of contributing to the consolidation of the nation, El Iris de La Paz and El Boliviano that sustamed administration of Marshal Andrés de Santa Cruz, La Época, that underpinned Ballivián adminislrations, Belzu and Córdoba. Later emphasizes characteristics of the press at the time, as the short duration of publications, in contrast to the large number of them, we analyze the support bases of the press, the spread of newspapers, or funding as a form of coerción on the press.
