Reprint of the work of José Macedonian Urquidi on the foundation of Cochabamba. The author studies, supported by primary sources, the origins of the early stablishment in the Valley of Canata, Cochabamba. In his description identifies the original indigenous people and those that carne transplanted from other regions of the Empire of Tawantinsuyo. Its aim is to elucidate the Act of Foundation of la Villa de Oropesa, by Gerónimo Osorio in August, 1571. In his work, managed to collect documents from colonial data, scattered in notarial archives of the city of Cochabamba, which ultimately led to the founding of the Municipal historical archive that bears his name.
