This paper provides a summary of some of the key theoretical and methodological aspects of scenario planning, which may make it a useful tool in community management of natural resources. The article suggests that in many situations scenario-planning can help community members to come together to share ideas about how to achieve desired goals for the future. Scenario-planning can assist in the analysis of socio-environmental systems and explicit consideration of the potential future impact of management decisions.
