LOPEZ GARCIA, José e NAVARRO CERRILLO, Rafael M.. Cambios de cobertura forestal con fotografías aéreas digitales en la Reserva de la Biosfera Mariposa Monarca. Revista Virtual REDESMA [online]. 2014, vol.7, n.1, pp. 49-62. ISSN 1995-1078.
In this paper, the use of digital high-resolution aerial photographs, obtained through alternative remote sensing using small format cameras, for the evaluation of the change in the density of forest cover is discussed. There have been systematic evaluations of the degradation and deforestation processes of forests by illegal logging and fires between 2003 and 2009 in the Biosphere Reserve of the Monarch Butterfly (Mexico and Michoacan, Mexico). A reliable methodology that allowed its application in subsequent studies, based on the use of digital high-resolution aerial photography was developed. The method involved the interpretation of stereo -pairs from different years to determine changes in the density of forest cover. The results are georeferenced and evaluated on a Geographic Information System. A comparative interpretation is done and changes are determined in each period of analysis, the changes are quantified and their distribution is analyzed, allowing the Monarch Fund in payment for ecosystem services.
