COMET-LA is a research project gathering researchers and civil society organizations from Europe and Latin America. Its objective is to identify sustainable governance models for the communitybased management of environmental challenges. This article introduces the project, its three case studies and the community-based strategies in each of them, highlighting the pros and cons of the approach.
