This article explores 'lo queer' from and within Latin America illustrating its fluidity as well as the possibilities it opens to critically debate gender, sexualities in relation to race, ethnicity, class and immigrant status. By doing so it draws alternative maps to address identities, bodies, categories considering the importance of the current Latinamerican diasporic contexts in a continuous conversation with the 'North'. Who is a citizen, what type of citizen and who decides it are the aspects positioned at the center of this analysis that uses an anthropological and interdisciplinary approach.
