In this article I argue that recent blockades in Tarija give important indications of the linkages that exist between the politics of autonomy and the politics of resources in the region and beyond. The paper furthermore aims to demonstrate that study of the recent protests in Tarija can be used as the basis for a more profound reflection on resource politics in general, and the resource curse in particular.
