BURGOS ZULET, José Liders; LUNA BARRON, Beatriz; ZAPATA URIA, Franz Eduardo y PEREZ GONZALEZ, Julio. GLICEMIC INDEX OF TARWI (Lupinus mutabillis Sweet) IN ADULTS OF LA PAZ-BOLIVIA, JULY 2004 . Ciencia y Medicina [online]. 2005, vol.6, pp. 43-48. ISSN 1816-2908.
The glicemia was determined in forty four people between eighteen and thirty years of age, of both sexes, in state of fast, and post ingest of 200g of tarwi precooked without shell (group A) and 50g ofglucose (group B), take spaced by thirty minutes each one, in a total of two hours. Outlying blood was used, the glicométric method was used. Starting from the obtained results the glicemia was compared induced by the ingest of glucose Versus the glicemia induced by the tarwi ingest. A light decrease is observed in the glicemia in the group A, to the 30 minutes and in the first hourand a minimum elevation of the glicemia at the two hours, on the contrary of those subject of the group B, where a marked increment is observed in the glicemia to the 30 minutes whose curve goes falling slowly at the two hours, what demonstrates in a comparative and mathematical way thanks to the area of both curved glucémicas that the precooked tarwi, without shell, he/she has an index low glucémico and it is therefore an advisable nutrient in the diet for diabetic patients and people with important physical activity
