RUMMARY lhe present study, show that to value the nutritional state is very important during explo-ration of the patient who is going to be submitting to a quirurgical procedure, even so, if this intervention is an emergency. It is a important fact (among others) about the evolu-tion post-operatori (prediction factor). This study values the relation between nutritional state, evolution post operatori and the complications related to before, during and after surgery. This is a prospective - descriptive study about patients who get into the emergency service of the Vietmas hospital. We included patients with acute abdomen exclu-ding patients with others pathologies who needs ITU, pregnancy and puerperies. We observe 46 patients by the time from February to July of 2.005. The most frequent pat-hology was acute appendicitis with 39%. We follow the patients during the post operatori time and it shov,'s a direct relation between nutritional state and evolution postoperato-ria, furthermore, the complications are more frequently if there is a alteration of the state nutritional. The most common complications were fever, serosas and abscess of wall. Besides we observe a subunder filled about the clinical histories of the emergency service and during the hospitalization of the patient, seeing that it can not be.
