    Resumen

ESPINOZA, Boris et al. Preliminary studied of extras from Cassia species and their antiparitic activity. BIOFARBO [online]. 2009, vol.17, n.1, pp. 54-58. ISSN 1813-5363.

The parasitic diseases as leishmaniasis, malaria and Chagas are endemic in Bolivia, becomes a necessity to find new products with antiparasitic activity, less toxic and of low cost in Bolivia. In the present studied we reported the leishmanicidal, tripanocidal and antiplasmodial activity of two species of Cassia: Cassia occidentalis and Cassia alata; in other research have been demonstrated biological activity against bacteria, mushrooms and parasites.  We studied ethanolic extracts from leaves and roots, and have been tested antiparasitic activity against the promastigote forms of L. amazonensis, L brasilensis and L donovani, Tripanozoma cruzi and Plasmodium falciparum, the determination of the activity was carried out for the direct optic method, and the results were reported in terms of IC50. All the extracts were inactive with IC50 > 100 μg/ml, for Leishmania and T. cruzi, and > to 10 μg/ml for P. falciparum.

Palabras llave : Cassia; Cassia occidentalis; Cassia alata; Leishmania; Plasmodium; Tripanosoma cruzi.
