GUTIERREZ ROJAS, Alvaro Victor; TERRAZAS SILES, Luis Enrique y ALVAREZ ALIAGA, Maria Teresa. Cultivo a escala de laboratorio de bacterias sulfato reductoras acidófilas y su aplicación en procesos de biorremediación utilizadas para la precipitación de metales pesados: Lab-scale culture of acidofilic sulfate reducing bacteria and applications for heavy metal precipitation. BIOFARBO [online]. 2009, vol.17, n.1, pp. 1-8. ISSN 1813-5363.
Around the world one of the most environmental pollutants are the acid mine drainage (AMD), characterized by high heavy metals and sulfate concentrations. Our focusing in this work was the effluent remediation, using sulfate redicing bacteria (SRB) that use recycled paper and volatil fatty acids (VFA) like carbon sources. The batch cultures showed over 10mM of hidrogen sulfide production. The best batch concetration for each support were selected, carrying this cultures to bioreactors. In thye first step using a modified Postgate C media near 3mM of hidrogen sulfide was achived. In a second step a mixed of the modified Postgate C media with the effluent to treat (1:1), teh production of hidrigen sulfide was improved around 7mM. Showing that the best support it was letter paper.
