RIOS-GONZALEZ, Carlos Miguel y VERON-MELLID, Fabiana Griselda. Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS:: an overview. SCIENTIFICA [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.2, pp. 32-34. ISSN 1813-0054.
Abstract Introduction: Co-infection between tuberculosis (TB) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is currently a real problem for global public health, due to the increase in the HIV prevalence rate, which as is well known is presented by the weakening of the immune system. These patients are up to 50 times more likely to sufler from tuberculosis throughout their lives. Methods: We did a bibliographic search in SCOPUS, SciELO, Medline / Pubmed, HINARI, Web of Science, and Cochrane, using keywords like HIV AND Tuberculosis AND Coinfection, with their respective English terms. We selected publications with an antiquity not more than10 years, made in throughout the world. Conclusion: Tuberculosis and Human Immunodeficiency Virus co-infection are still on the rise because of the daily increase in HIV-positive patients, especially in the African and Asian continent. Studies are still being carried out to allow a faster diagnosis for tuberculosis.
