Introduction: The attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a behavior syndrome, in which the affected person has difficulty in fields such as concentration, patience and organization. Objective: To determine the prevalence of ADHD in trainees in preparation for admission to the National University of Asuncion. Methodology: Analytical observational study of transverse cutting non-probability sampling of consecutive cases of young trainees for the Medicine and Surgery career at the UNA, with provenance of the metropolitan area of Asuncion in 2015. Measurement was performed by studying variables Conners: Test score, suspected ADHD, workshop on studying, college graduation, origin, age, and sex. Results: 249 trainees aged between 16 and 25 years old (19,06 ± 1,28) were included. With the Conners test for ADHD 55,02 % of patients were suspected; 62,77 % of them were female. 68,08 % of trainees with private education had been suspected ADHD. The percentaje of Students from Asunción that were suspected was 32,93% of the study population. Significant value between sex and suspicion of ADHD (p = 0.007) was found. Conclusion: The majority of trainees from the area of Asunción have suspected ADHD, with the highest percentage of women. Private education seems to be influence trainees' development, but it is not conclusive in this investigation.
