    Resumen

    It is called hypertension when chronically sustained systolic pressure is greater than 140 mmHg and diastolic BP of 90 mmHg. In Paraguay 32.2% of the population suffers. Objective: To determine the prevalence of hypertension in adults of General Bernardino Caballero neighborhood. Subjects and Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study with non-probability sampling of consecutive cases on the prevalence of hypertension in adults was conducted by General Bernardino Caballero neighborhood of Paraguay. Intervention: Respondents were previously informed about the objectives of the study and those who agreed continued to fill the survey. Data were collected through a survey mixed type containing the variables of interest. The results are expressed in frequency tables and prevalence. Results: During the month of July included 166 subjects, 94 were female (56.6%), turn 94 (56 %) were single. Of all respondents with hypertension, obesity nine had type I and obesity type III 2. Conclusion: Prevalence of hypertension in the General Bernardino Caballero neighborhood was 20.4 %.
