ABSTRACT The invasive infection by Haemophilus influenzae íype b, is a disease common in patient between 6 to 12 months of age. We presents a case of a child of 7 months oíd, resident from La Paz-El Alto city , with a clinical of approximately 1 week duration characterized to present thermal spikes, oral cavity lesions, alteration of consciousness, irritability, hypo activity andrejection of thewomb, reasons why the mother goes to Children's Hospital Ovidio Aliaga Uría. Admission showedthe patient bradipnea, kussmaul breathing, drowsiness, neck hyperextension and marked neck stiffness. Subsequently, the clinical picture was complicated by bronchopneumonia associated with left pleural effusion grade II-III and pericarditis, transferring case management to the pediatric intensive care unit. Lumbar puncture and CSF culture revealed "Brain infection by Haemophilus influenzae type" b"
