ABSTRACT Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis is a rare benign self-limiting lymphadenitis entity. The most common manifesta-tions include prolonged fever and regional or generalized lymphadenopathy, the most frequent being posterior cervical lymphadenopathy. Most often affects young Asian women, was first described in the Japanese literature in 1972, although the first reported cases belong to Eastern coun-tries, the geographical distribution of the disease appears to be widespread. In America and Europe is occasionally seen. We present the clinical case of female patient aged 22 who presented to general surgery with a fever of about 2 weeks duration accompanied by pain and cervical lymphadenopathy, per-forming biopsy of cervical lymph node in which findings are consistent with evidence Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease.
