ABSTRACT Several maxillofacial anomalies are affect-ing the most common mandibular prognathism population, characterized by an in-crease in mandibular body due to a build up, causing malocclusion and seriously affecting facial appearance. The etiology is multifactorial from genetic, developmental defect, related to bad habits or hormonal disorder. The diagnosis is clinical, ancillary tests as necessary and cephOrthopantomography face, in which cephalometricanalysis was conducted and thereby obtains an objective and necessary to determine the treatment plan being diagnosed. The purpose of this article is to present two cases of prognathism Mandibular discussed in Unit Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University Teaching Hospital, where two patients with mandibular discrepancy were initially treated with orthodontic therapy and then underwent orthognathic surgery using two different surgical techniques.
