Objective: To determine the risk factors associated with the presence of osteoarthritis predominant in subjects over 50 years Chuma community. Design: basic, descriptive, field and retrospective. Methods: We screened in the last quarter of 2011. The study will include 576 patients over 50 years of community Chuma diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Results: The predominant age with arthritis are between 70-79 years to 5096. The 3796 male and 6396 female. The 4096 are obese. The 3796 had first-degree relative with osteoarthritis. The 4596 worked at home, 1096 were farmers. 6o96 played sports. More than 7096, playing soccer. 7496 responded that menopause influenced the presence of his osteoarthritis. Conclusions: We determined the predominant risk factors associated with the presence of osteoarthritis of 9 risk factors were taken into account are 5 so predominant among these are age 70-79, female predominance of sex; Occupation, the most important is the farmer Work from home and because they are activities that lead to significant physical effort, sport mainly football and Menopause influencing the incidence of the disease. It was assessed frequently affected joints. Among the important in order of frequency are: the knee joint, proximal and distal interphalangeal, ankle, hip.
