Introduction: The research is to conduct an assessment of visual acuity at college students, and compare what types of ametropia predomínate according to the height of their geographical location, gender and ethnicity. Objective: Determine the chang-es in visual acuity and refraction problems regarding the geographical height from which the students of the faculty of medicine at the Polytechnic School of Chimborazo 2013. Materials And Method: Cross, descriptive research realized in medical students belonging to the Polytechnic School Of Chimborazo, the visual acuity and refraction was performed at the Metropolitan clinic using Snellen chart and autorefrac-tometer. Conclusions: With this study we concluded that the problems of visual acuity and refraction show a marked difference from the altitude of the geographical origin of individuáis.
