ESCOBAR VARGAS, Fabiola Mabel y IBANEZ P, Stephania Madelaine. Determinación por espirometría de volúmenes y capacidades pulmonares en sujetos fumadores y no fumadores residentes de la altura. SCIENTIFICA [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.1, pp. 18-21. ISSN 1813-0054.
SUMMARY Objective: To determine by spirometry lung volumes and capacities in smokers and nonsmokers residents from high altitude. Design: Cross-sectional and deseriptive. Location: Faculty of Medicine - Universidad Mayor de San Andrés. Participants: Students between 20 and 25 years oíd. smokers and nonsmokers, total 30 people. lnterventions: We appreciate the weight, height. BMI, age. sex in the spirometer. It was measured with the spirometer lung volumes and capacities, in standing position. Data were processed in Excel spreadsheets. The analysis was performed coraparing the study groups: smokers and nonsmokers. Results: The gender group with smoking is higher in women with 60%. It was found that the torced vital capacity is 78.46 in nonsmokers and 39.3 in smokers, FEVi = 82.6 in nonsmokers and smokers 47.13, PEF = 58.6 in nonsmokers and 45.8 in smokers. Conclusions: This study shows a greater addiction by the female, reside in a región of high altitude affects the mechanical ventilation. Smoking reduces lung capacity and volumes.
