ABSTRACT Objective: To determine Degree of Hearing Loss (DHL) in students of the Facultad de Medicina between 18 and 25 years duc to use of personal music players at high sound intensity, high use frequeney and long usage time. Design: Transversal and descriptive-analitye. Location: Universidad Mayor de San Andrés - Facultad de Medicina. Participants: Students between 18 and 25 years of the Facultad de Medicina. Intcrventions: Survcys were applied to 100 students, 33 of which were seiected (19 women and 14 men) for the execution of a tonal audiometry with the software Home Audiometer v2.0. Results: 94% of the studied people presented somc DHL, 33% of which have infranormal hearing and 61% have Light Hearing Loss (LH L). 6% of people have normal hearing. Conclusions: Most studied people have some kind of DHL. thus demonstrating that the risk-factors relatcd to acoustic damage are sound intensity, week usage frequeney and daily exposure time. Mantaining these risk-factors in combination determines time evolution of the acoustic damage.
