    Resumen

    Objective. Determine the Clinical and Epidemiology of cases of pneumonia recorded in the Child Hospital "Dr. Ovidio Aliaga Uría" under 10 years in management 2005. Methods. 391 children under ten years old who were interned in the room pneumology, of which 210 were cases involving pneumonia in the internment. Results. 210 patients were diagnosed with pneumonia from January to December 2005, of which at physical examination showed: cough (24.49%), fever (23.34%) and shortness of breath (16.20%), the age group most management concerned during 2005 included children between 1 and 11 months of total cases of pneumonia on 57.62% were children. The causative agent pneumonia could not be identified in 82.07% of cases, but in cases where it was possible to identify the agent appreciate that the 10.84% owned by VRS (respiratory syncytial virus), the 3.30% other viruses, and 1.88% Chlamydia pneumoniae. Conclusions. The clinical picture of patients under the age of 10 with pneumonia is as follows: cough, fever and shortness of breath, that does not vary with regard to literature, presenting an increase of cases of pneumonia during the winter months.
