ABSTRACT Research questions: The surgical unit of the IGBJ (Gastroenterologist Institute Bolivian Japanese) has an administration politic of antibiotics as prevention in low digestive sur geries, clean-polluted surgeries and polluted surgeries, that it has been implanted in situ? Objetives: To settle down the parameters used in the chemotherapy prophylaxis and preventive treatment in low digestive in the surgical unit of the IGBJ of the Hospital of Clinical in the La Paz city. Methods: One carries out a traverse study, prospective of type descriptive mixed. Place: Surgical Unit of the IGBJ of the Hospital of Clinical University in the La Paz City. Study population: sixty three subjected patients to low digestive surgery, for laparotomy,invasive, and clean-polluted surgeries and polluted surgeries. Methodology: Systematic and analytic summary of data of surgery protocols and clinical in the IGBJ. Results: 63 surgeries were analyzed, of which 56 were of appendix and 7 of colon and rectum, 90% was of urgency. In 46 cases the antibiotics were administered in the post- operative, and in any case in the pre-operative. The drug but used it was the ciprofloxacine (16 cases) followed by the association ciprofloxacine and metronidazole in 15 cases. Conclusions: An administration politics has not settled down as prevention in the low digestive surgeries, and for the opposite, an individualistic politics exists in the administration of these drugs.
