Abstract This article describes the development of the research project funded with IDH resources for the design and construction of an electro-magnetic induction cooker that allows the most efficient use of electric energy. The circuit used in the project for the operation of high frequency alternating current is based on a resonant medium bridge inverter composed mainly of IGBT whose activation signals (PWM) come from a medium-range microcontroller (PIC16F887). For the validation of the prototype, comparative tests were performed that determined the efficiency of this, in relation to a conventional electric cooker and a commercial induction cooker. The execution of the project also allowed fulfilling the role of applied research regarding a new technology little studied in our environment (Electromagnetic Induction) as an academic research contribution.
