VARGAS DORIA MEDINA, Daniela y AMURRIO DERPIC, David. Alternative of process of tanning with high depletion of Chromium for the traditional tanneries of the city of Cochabamba. RevActaNova. [online]. 2017, vol.8, n.1, pp. 3-30. ISSN 1683-0789.
This study provides an alternative to the traditional method of industrial tanning. The new method is an adaptation ofthe technique of tanning with high exhaustion posed by José M. Morera, to the conditions of the traditional tanneries of the city of Cochabamba Bolivia; Was taken as sample CURMA S.R.L. Tannery. Tanning method was optimized with tools of high Chrome exhaustion. The proposed tanning process is characterized by being performed without bath, to recover water from pickling and the significant growth of the temperature at the end of the tanning process. The properties of the leather tanned with both methods (conventional and high exhaustion) were compared and the results indicate that the process with high exhaustion employed produces leather with better physical and chemical characteristics. The differences from the environmental point of view were determined by the low volume of effluents generated by the process with high exhaustion (1.3 m3 / month in relation to 11.2 m3 / month generated by the conventional process) and the chromium amount removed at the same (0.18 kg Cr / month in respect of to 8.64 kg / month generated by the conventional process). The process with high exhaustion chrome proposed lasts the half time of a traditional process and a financial assessment determined that the proposed high exhaustion process is more economical.
