    Resumen

    Objective To establish the prevalence of violence against women and domestic, its determinants and effects linked to social response. METHOD Observational, cross-sectional Results The study found that 6 out of every 10 families recognize the presence of violence (60% I.C. 55.4 -64.6). Victims of violence are mainly women (60%) and by age children and adolescents, the latter may have multiple aggressors parents, older brothers and sisters. In 19 of 100 cases the father and mother are those that generate fights, in relation to the interaction with other family members. The 9th district has the highest data. The most common reason that causes problems at social events is the consumption of alcohol, which is also a common cause of problems in the family. Conclusions Violence in any of the areas and shapes, has a structural condition, which is caused by a condition of gender, originated on the bases and principles of the patriarchal system that is ultimately wich permits all structures of human life. Violence within the home is not a problem of private affairs, and an isolated incident, but a problem of social, economic and cultural, is a public health problem, and is present in many of Bolivian households, regardless of their social sphere, cultural, economic status or origin
