Objective. To identify, the more frequent complications in the pregnancy and delivery, and to build indicators forthe same ones. Methods. This is a descriptive and retrospective study of a series of cases, based on national statistics of "Seguro Universal Materno Infantil" (SUMI 2005). Twenty-three packets were selected: four of services production, fourteen of pregnancy and delivery complications, and five regarding complications in attention. The indices foreach complication, was obtained on the total number of deliveries and cesareans attended, for Department. Results. Delivery cover of SUMI was 49.3%, and 17.3% for the caesarean index. Ectopic pregnancy was three times more frequent than molar pregnancy. The severe preeclampsia and eclampsia indices, was very similar to that hyperemesis and complicated abortion. Nine of ten hemorrhages postpartum were due to placental retention or atonic uterus. Perineal and cervical uterus lacerations were found to be the most frequent complications. Conclusions. Indicators of obstetrical morbidity and complications in attention were very high. It is necessary to carry out specific studies to understand with more precision the identified realities with the present work.
