Nowadays there are many cases of malnutrition in different groups in Bolivia that concern us as medicine students. Eager to know at what point is this problem affecting the department of Oruro, we carried out this research report that involved children of elementary level from five homes of SE.DE.GE.S: Hogar Granja Paria, Capachos, Zelada, Técnico Femenino, Penny. Our general objective was based on the determination of the children's nutritional status. To accomplish this , a series of visits to different homes were made, checking attentively each one of the intern's weight, height, age and different clinical signs that could appear in case of malnutrition. As for the results, the most affected home is Capachos with 8 cases, followed by Técnico Femenino with 5 cases, Penny with 3 cases, and finally Granja Paria and Zelada, both with 2 cases. However, in relation to the taken sample, these quantities do not represent a high level of malnutrition. Among the most frequently found clinical signs, there was a prevalence of dental cavities with 63 cases (13%), dry skin with 59 cases (13%), pale, weak fingernails with 49 cases (11 %)skin discoloration with 48 cases (11%) among others.
