    Abstract

FABBRI, Juan. The pleasure of using shawl, skirt and hat. Textos Antropológicos [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.1, pp. 69-82. ISSN 1025-3181.

This article deals with reflections from visual anthropology about the exhibition of contemporary art "Lo Normal", which took place at the Centro Cultural de España in La Paz inAugust 2016. The exposition builds a symbolically dense scenario that crosses and collapses matters ofgender with problems around the politics of representation of indigenous nations. Taking the point of departure from the exhibition, I ask the question ifit ispossible to rethink the semi-colonial condition and variegation (Tapia 2002; Zavaleta Mercado 1967; 1986) through the contemporary art proposals taking place in Bolivia. The works examined are those of the artists Adriana Bravo and Ivanna Terrazas, Andrés Mallo/Alicia Galán and Galo Coca, and the curators María Teresa Rojas and Marisabel Villagómez. I propose that the general proposal ofthe whole display isframed in the “ethnographic turn", and that it ispart of a global scenario of contemporary art (Foster 1996; Guasch 2000) to which practices in Bolivia are related and seeking to be incorporated.

Keywords : Contemporary art; visual anthropology; ethnographical turn; decolonization.
