BARRIENTOS SALINAS, J. Alejandro y SILVA ARRATIA, Mariela. Flutes and timbales: Critical Sketches about Cultural Heritage from the Social Life of Musical Instruments in the TCO Moseté. Textos Antropológicos [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.1, pp. 67-84. ISSN 1025-3181.
Cultural policies on heritage, rooted in neoliberal multiculturalism, are causing an arbitrary rupture between material culture and immaterial culture, opening a dichotomous gap that is unnecessary, or at least, has no co-herence with the dynamic relationships that occur in intercultural settings; understanding that interculturality is not reduced to the harmonious coexistence between diverse human collectivities, but rather to the recognition ofotherness as a fundamental principle ofexistence and relationship between humans and non-humans, between people and things. From ajourney through the social life of musical instruments in the TCO Mosetén, this article proposes a critique of cultural patrimonialization through a multi-sited approach, transiting from thefolk fetish of objects to the agency ofmusic instruments, to revealing a sound memory, complex and interspersed in the Amazon foothills.
