    Resumen

VILLANUEVA CRIALES, Juan. Chullpario Landscapes: The visualization of mountains fron the Late Intermedíate Period funerary towers (ca. AD 1100-1450) in the Carangas Plateau. Textos Antropológicos [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.1, pp. 57-68. ISSN 1025-3181.

Although the importance of mountains as powerful agents in the altiplano environment has been widely recognized from ethnographic and ethno-historical sources, attempts to evaluate their importance within pre-hispanic archaeological phenomena remain scarce. This paper presents results from a first GIS evaluation of cumulative viewsheds, in order to consider the visualization of landscape features from Late Intermedíate period (ca. AD 1100-1450) burial tower sites or chullperios, in four regions of the Carangas Plateau. Results are discussed related to ceramic pastes pattern detected during the same research, signaling that both sets of data point out consistently to a major interaction between regions within Carangas' western half differing from the eastern regions. Hence, tve propose that landscape played an important role in feasting as a means to supra-local articulation.
