Archaeologicalsites in Achocalla valley, in the surroundings ofthe city ofLa Paz, consist ofancient burial towers (chullpares), agricultural terraces, etc. ivith a chronology ofsome 3,000 years (Formative, Tiwanaku, Pacajes, and Inca periods). In the 1990s members ofthe Bolivian Rock Art Research Society (SIARB) registered some 10 engraved rocks and proposed that some ofthem be protected in an archaeologicalpark which unfortunately ivas not realized. Meanwhile most ofthe rocks and other archaeological remains have been destroyed. In this article the author describes and classifies the rock art, andpresents a preliminary interpretation
