The Middle Horizon hasseen the dawn and breakdown oftwo ofthe most importantpolities on theAndean world, Tiwanaku and Wari. However, thisperiod has also witnessed the development ofa number of regional polities as it is the case ofthe Yunga-Kallawaya groups, which were settled on the Charazani valleys. That is why this research explores the interaction strategies between the highlandpolity and Yunga-Kallawaya groups in Kalla kallan, a regional center of interaction in the Kallawaya Territory. Furthermore, the settlement's collected evidence suggests the active role ofthe local population during the interaction process with Tiwanaku. Likewise, thefunctional changes in Kalla kallan during their two occupational periods have determined the variability on the interaction process between both polities. So, as much as economic interests had motivated the development of interregional processes of interaction, these have been basedon ideological activities expressedasseasonalritualsandfeasting. In thisway, the passfrom an economic confluence center to an ideological, religious andfestive regional center of interaction is no-thing more that a portrait of local and foreign population s relationships on the prehispanic Kallawaya Territory
