Theprocess ofethnic emergency that develops in the American continentfrom the ends oftheXXth century has had not only social, political and economic repercussions, but also repercussions in the archaeological work. Chile, from the decade ofthe nineties, has lived a process ofindigenous claim in which the discourse on the past and the notion ofheritage as sume an important place. In thisarticle, we discuss aboutwhy and how the patrimonial and archaeological discourse contribute to conform the ethnic 's discourse and about the social relationships ofthe actors in this process
