Walata Grande is a community in which the production of musical instruments was afeature ofthe people living there. But, when the economy of rural lives enteredinto a crisis, walateños hadto affront itandtheydiditby the migration to the city of El Alto. In this new live context, the production of musical instruments is the knowledge of walateños and they use it as an economic s trate gy in the city. That is how they begin to produce under urban market requirements. The author shows how sociocultural group of Walata affronts the rural-urban migration, the changes in production andbuiltprocess of the instruments, and how these facts express the working, gender and ethnic culture of walateños
