ECHENIQUE QUEZADA, Marco Antonio  and  CONDORI ALMANZA, Laura Lidia. Effect of different concentrations and immersion times of sodium hypochlorite on the in vitro establishment of Asaí (Euterpe precatoria Mart. Apthapi [online]. 2023, vol.9, n.3, pp. 1-11. ISSN 0102-0304.

ABSTRACT:                    The Asaí (Euterpe precatoria Mart) is a palm tree that is distributed throughout most of South America and is considered a multipurpose species of regional importance. Acai propagation is traditionally by seed; however, one way to obtain a greater number of plants in less time is through in vitro tissue culture. The work was carried out in the Plant Biotechnology Laboratoryof the Sapecho Experimental Station, in the municipality of Palos Blancos in the department of La Paz, with the objective of determining the effect of different concentrations and immersion times in sodium hypochlorite on the in vitro establishment of Asaí. A completely randomized design (CRD) was usedfortheanalysisof the data, with the comparisonof meansat 5% probability. Total contamination, fungal contamination, bacterial contamination, and surviving explants were evaluated up to 55 days later. As a result, the highest percentage of total contamination by fungi and bacteria was 72% in leaf explants and 100% in root explants, which was presented using method III (2% sodium hypochlorite with a time of 15 minutes), the disinfection method that had the highest percentage of survival was method I (1% sodium hypochlorite and 5 minutes) with 72% in leaves and 100% in roots. The concentration and immersion time of sodium hypochlorite helps us to eliminate the contamination of both bacteria and fungi in the explants of Asaí.
