MAMANI CALLISAYA, Daniela  and  TINCO MAMANI, Esther. Effect of scarification methods on lucumo seed (Pouteria lúcuma (Ruiz & Pav.) Kuntze). Apthapi [online]. 2021, vol.7, n.2, pp. 2158-2163. ISSN 0102-0304.

ABSTRACT:                  Although technology is hand in hand with agriculture, one of the observable problems is the germination of fruit seeds due to the issue of dormancy, dormancy and seminal hardness of them, which requires adequate management of the substrate, scarification methods and seedling. The objective of this research work was to evaluate the effect of some scarification methods on lucumo seed (Pouteria lúcuma (Ruiz & Pav.) Kuntze) at the Cota Cota Experimental Center. The treatments used were the scarification methods: T1 (soaking in water for 24 hours), T2 (scarification with sandpaper), T3 (chemical scarification) and a T0 (control). The completely randomized design was used, with 3 treatments plus a control. Each treatment had 6 repetitions making a total of 24 experimental units. The parameters that were evaluated were: emergence percentage, germination percentage, plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter. Lucumo seeds subjected to T2 obtained the best results, with a germination percentage of 90%, followed by T3 that obtained 63.33%, T0 with 60% and finally T1. Regarding the variable percentage of emergence, T3 was observed with 83.33%, followed by T3, T1 and finally T0, with 70.43 37% respectively. In plant height, T3 reached 14.99 cm, followed by T3 with 14.08cm, this variable was evaluated for five months. Regarding the stem diameter variable, statistically there was no significance, therefore in all the treatments they reached an average stem diameter of 5.61 mm.
