CALLISAYA, Isidro. Assessment of the highland forest of the community of San Jorge-Coroico (BTA). Apthapi [online]. 2017, vol.3, n.3, pp. 819-830. ISSN 0102-0304.

Abstract:                  Today's natural resources can be valued in various ways, to satisfy questions such as: What do you want, what do you have to work and how can you better use what you have to achieve what you want? What are the objectives and how can resources be mobilized more effectively to achieve these objectives? At what rate must the irreversible alteration of the environment continué? Under what conditions should current generations exchange material goods and services for environmental conditions and vice versa? What restrictions should the present generations voluntarily accept, for the benefit of future generations? Are they aware of the valué of natural resources? All questions, large and small, general and deep or limited and localized, fall within the importance of our natural resources. The impact question is the valué of natural resources, which can be expressed in two terms. Before that, let's start with another question: What gives valué to natural resources? The answer, is not so simple, the possibilities pointed out by many researchers show it: a) Aldo Leopold, points out that nature has intrinsic, inherent valué, and therefore has moral and natural rights; it is more could extend, and affirm that human life has valué, insofar as it contributes to the integrality, stability and beauty of the biotic biocenosis and b) at the other extreme we find the anthropocentric hypothesis, where they point out that: who confers valué to the things is the relationship with the human being, that is, man is the only one if he can give valué to natural resources. Personally, I prefer the second hypothesis, although with some nuances. Nature in its environment exposes many instruments for future generations: such as the valué of use, of choice and of existence. Although this proposal is not liked by other researchers such as Swaney and Olson (1992) and Pearce and Turner (1995). However, the example that we consider below, although it does not express an economic valué, is evaluated through the Habitat Valuation systems supported by the proposal of more than 100 researchers from the United States. Where the interrelationships that have the biotic and abiotic components are considered. This valuation can be complete, if we use the methods of environmental economics, such as, the Contingent Valuation Method (MVC) and the cost of travel method (MCV). The assessment must be made taking into account the importance: economic, social, medicinal, interrelationships, etc. of the species.
