Abstract: The study developed in the northern highlands of the department of La Paz, determines that the largest group of dairy cattle producers belong to the stratum of small producer (41%) followed by médium and large producers with 33 and 26% respective share. The average number of animáis is 13.5 dairy cattle assumed for the stratum of small producer, where 40.5% corresponds to the cows in production and dry. Natural mountaineering is one of the most widespread practices and the breeding of improved native cattle. The average production of milk liters / cow / day is 6.5. The sale price ranges from 2.50 to 3.00 Bs per liter. The average surface área of a dairy productive unit is 6.1 hectares, however, it is supported by some available áreas of communal grazing.
