CARRASCO ENRIQUEZ, Mauricio  and  HERRERA CERVANTES, Mariluz. Síndrome de embolia grasa en paciente con fractura multifragmentaria de fémur izquierdo tipo 32 b2 de la clasificación ao. reporte de casoFat Embolism Syndrome in a patient with multifragmentary fracture of the left femur. 32 B2 AO type. A case report. Arch.Boliv.Med. [online]. 2018, vol.30, n.98, pp. 56-63. ISSN 0004-0525.

A 26-year-old male patient, who suffers a traffic accident in Motorcycle against a Bus, where he presents direct trauma in the lower left limb, the radiograph shows fracture of the left femur. After 48 hours of the trauma he presents respiratory failure, with the use of accessory muscles accompanied by a petechial rash in the chest, abdomen and conjunctiva. Cabinet test examinationswere requested like Radiography, Chest tomography and gasometry, which give evidence of acute respiratory distress. He enters at intensive care unit for mechanical ventilatory assistance, corticosteroids were used and was evaluated by Traumatology that defines surgical treatment with provisional immobilization of the fracture by External Fixator. Because there are few cases recognized in the literature, it is important to know that the diagnosis is clinical and supportive treatment, early recognition of this syndrome can prevent déficit sequelae and death. The final diagnosis was Fat embolism.
