The objective of this research is to determine the level of knowledge of mothers of children under 2 years of age about breastfeeding during the months of October, November and December 2018. We performed a descriptive work of the Observational Cross Subtype, because we limited ourselves to observe and describe what level of knowledge mothers of children under 2 years of age have about breastfeeding in the last quarter of 2018. The total size of our study population are 69 mothers distributed in the cantons of Alcalá and Limabamba, we worked with the total of the study population with a confidence level of 100% and a margin of error of0%. Arriving at the conclusion that the mothers of the municipality of Alcalá have a good level of knowledge about breastfeeding and its application with 82%, with a predominance of mothers of 25 to 34 years in the state of concubinage that indicate to the health center as main source of information. It is advisable to promote campaigns to strengthen the knowledge of mothers about breastfeeding. The recommendations include annual assessments to mothers about breastfeeding, develop educational content in the communities of the municipality and monthly training for both mothers and women of childbearing age on breastfeeding.
