    Resumen

    SUMMARY Malnutrition is a pathological condition that causes alterations in the state of health and diminishes the ability to carry out basic activi-ties for daily life. It leads to a loss of autono-my, greater social isolation, institutionalization and even, in extreme cases, death especially in the elderly. The aim is to investigate the factors associated with malnutrition in adults over 60 years of age who attend the Health Center "Santa María Madre De Dios", municipality of Villa Charcas, in the department of Chuquisaca from January to March 2018. Material and Methods: The research is Quan-titative, observational, analytical and cross-sec-tional. The population of the present research work was of 478 adults older than 60 years and older. The sample was a total of 147 older adults. After the application of exclusion criteria. Results: The existence of malnutrition in the elderly was presented in 37%, the associated factors were; the age, adults older than 92 years or more, presented a greater predominance of malnutrition with 92%, unlike the other age groups. The civil state; being a widower is an associated factor to present malnutrition in the elderly with an X2 4,51. Not having any degree of schooling is a predisposing factor to present malnutrition in the elderly according to the results of X2 3,94. The presence of established depression is a risk factor for presenting malnutrition in the elderly due to having an X2 3,87. Presenting dependence is an associated factor for the elderly to present malnutrition, this is due to the significance of X2, which results in 4.23.
